Beigegeben ein Gutachten von Alessandro Delpriori, Florenz. Des Weiteren eine Pigmentanalyse von Prof. Dr. Manfred Schreiner, Academy of Fine Arts, Wien, März, 2017. Diese kommt zu dem Ergebnis, dass nichts gegen eine Entstehung der Truhe im frühen 15. Jahrhundert, mit späteren Restaurierungen im 18. oder 19. Jahrhundert, spricht.
Auf mehreren gelappten Füßen stehender, kastenförmiger, rechteckiger Korpus mit Klappscharnierdeckel. Dreiseitiges Pastiglia-Relief, schauseitig mit sternförmig - blütenförmig gestalteten Kartuschen. Diese gefüllt mit polychromer Temperamalerei und alternierend mit Allianzwappen im Sinne einer Hochzeitstruhe. Die rechte Hälfte des Allianzwappens zeigt das Wappen der Familie D’Alagna, während das Wappen der linken Hälfte – welches traditionell das der Braut zugehörige ist – zu folgenden Familien gehören könnte: Castromediano, Evoli oder Ruffo. Die Hochzeitstruhe könnte anlässlich der Hochzeit des Roberto d’Alagno und einer Tochter eines Ruffo di Sinopoli entstanden sein. Deckel lose. Materialverluste und Berieb. Ein Schlüssel vorhanden.

Anmerkung:
Ähnliche Truhen werden etwa im Museo Stibbert in Florenz verwahrt.
Eine weiteres dreifeldriges Bildfeld des Maestro di Carlo III di Durazzo wird im Metropolitan Museum in New York verwahrt.
Eine Truhe ebenfalls mit drei Szenen in gelappten aber zusammenhängenden Kartuschen, ebenfalls des Maestro di Carlo III di Durazzo wurde 2018 im Dorotheum in Wien angeboten.

Early renaissance marriage chest

Accompanied by an expert’s report by Alessandro Delpriori, Florence. Furthermore, a pigment analysis by Professor Dr Manfred Schreiner, Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, March 2017 is enclosed.
The right half arms of alliance shows the coat of arms of the d’Alagna family, while the left half – traditionally that of the bride – could belong to the following families: Castromediano, Eevee or Ruffo. The marriage chest could have been created for the wedding of Roberto d’Alagno and a daughter of a Ruffo di Sinopoli.
