Auf hoher See, unter hohem weiß-grauem Himmel die gegeneinander Kämpfenden, mit teils hohen Segelschiffen und linksseitig einigen Fregatten. Im Vordergrund eine mit zahlreichen Figuren besetzte Fregatte mit ausgefahrenen Rudern und roter Beflaggung, gerade Kanonen abschießend, von denen weißer Rauch aufsteigt. Im Wasser schwimmend einige Bruchstücke sowie ein paar Schiffbrüchige. Malerei in der typischen Manier des wenig bekannten Künstlers in überwiegend monochromer beige-grauer Farbgebung, aufgelockert durch die Farbigkeit der Flaggen auf den einzelnen Schiffen.
