Carrara-Marmor. Auf einem Felsen sitzende barbusige junge Frau mit in der Hand gehaltenen Calla-Blüten. Hinter ihr in den Marmorblock gearbeitetes Flachrelief, eine Baumlandschaft darstellend. Volubilis ist eine Serie von Skulpturen von Alfred Boucher, dem Freund von Auguste Rodin (1840-1917), die erstmals 1896 im Musée des Beaux-Arts de Troyes ausgestellt waren, wobei die Idee dieser Figuren über die nächsten Jahre weiter ausgearbeitet worden ist. In dieser Skulpturengruppe lässt Boucher den Kontrast wirken, der aus den zarten Formen junger Frauen im Kontrast zu dem schroffen Marmorblock wirkt, im Sinne des Pygmalion-Prozesses, in dem die Skulptur des Bildhauers lebendig wird.
