Blick von leicht erhöhtem Standpunkt auf die Insel San Giorgio Maggiore mit der prachtvollen Fassade der Palladio-Kirche. Über ein rautenmäßiges Pflaster führt vom Eingang der Kirche der Weg zu einigen Treppenstufen, an deren Ende im Wasser eine schwarze Gondel liegt. Nur wenige Figuren beleben das Ufer vor der Kirche mit dem deutlich erkennbaren Campanile und dem hinter der Fassade liegenden rosafarbenen Gebäude mit Kuppel. Im Becken vor der Kirche einige Gondeln und einige prachtvolle Dreimaster, teils mit Beflaggung und goldglänzendem Heck. In der Ferne die prachtvolle Uferseite Venedigs mit dem Palast, dem Campanile und den beiden großen Säulen an der Piazzetta. Malerei, die durch die leuchtende Farbpalette belebt wird, die von den warmen Farbtönen bis zum intensiven Blau des fast wolkenlosen Himmels reicht. Stimmungsvolle Darstellung mit weitem Panoramablick des Künstlers, dessen Berühmtheit vor allem auf eine Sammlung von 67 Gemälden zurückzuführen ist. Teils Retuschen.

Laut Succi liegt der hier gezeigten Ansicht von Bella, wie oft bei seinen Werken, ein Stich von Michele Giovanni Marieschi (1696/1710-1743) zugrunde, der zu der Serie von 21 Ansichten mit dem Titel „Magnificentiores selectioresque urbis Venetiarum prospectus“ gehört, die 1741 von demselben Autor veröffentlicht wurde. As is often the case in the artist’s work – according to Succi - Bella’s vista here is based on an engraving by Michele Giovanni Marieschi (1696/1710-1743), belonging to a series of 21 vistas entitled “Magnificentiores selectioresque urbis Venetiarum prospectus”, published in 1741 by the same author.
This object has been individually compared to the information in the Art Loss Register data bank and is not registered there as stolen or missing.
