Beigegeben eine Stellungnahme von Prof. Franco Moro, Piacenza, 8. September 2017, in Kopie.

VENUS AND ADONIS
Oil on canvas. Relined.
145 x 210 cm.

Accompanied by a statement by Professor Franco moro, Piacenza, dated 8. September 2017, in copy.

This is a dynamic composition which fits in well with the oeuvre of the artist from Milan, who is one of the main protagonists of the Lombard Baroque. He initially studied the works of Giulio Cesare Procaccini and mainly painted religious and mythological subjects, such as the wounded Dido or Cephalus and Procris, or as in this lot Venus and Adonis with hunting dogs. after Ovid (Metamorphoses X, 525 ff.).

Literature:
cf. Filippo Maria Ferro, Nuvolone.
