Das vorliegende Gemäldepaar bezieht sich in seiner Komposition auf Francesco Guardi (1712-1793), dessen Capricci im Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York Giuseppe Ponga als Vorlage dienten. Jeweils mit Küstenabschnitt in flottem Pinselduktus, von Vegetation heimgesuchten ruinöser Architektur und durch ihre Polychromität wirkungsvoll herausgestellter Figurenstaffage.
