Beigegeben eine Expertise mit Vergleichsbeispielen von Alessandro Delpriori, Florenz (in Kopie vorliegend).
In bewaldeter Landschaft vor blauem Himmel mit weißen Wolkenstreifen ein junger schlafender Mann in rötlichem Hemd mit geschlitzten Ärmeln, dessen Kopf seitlich auf seinen übereinandergelegten Händen ruht. Hinter ihm links an einem dicken Baumstamm sein abgestelltes Gewehr, mit dem er die vor ihm im Halbkreis liegenden fünf Vögel erschossen haben muss, dazu noch eine Pulverflasche. Rechts von ihm, unterhalb eines weiteren Baumstammes, ein großer, leicht zusammengerollter ruhender Hund mit weißem glänzenden Fell, einer roten Schnauze und rot-braun leuchtenden Augen. Insbesondere die Lichtführung, der Kontrast zwischen den dunklen Schatten und dem Lichtfall auf Gesicht und Kleidung des Jägers, sowie die Detailgenauigkeit der Vögel und Haare des Hundes erinnern an den römischen Caravaggismus. Der Künstler wurde in der Werkstatt des Francesco Morelli ausgebildet, spezialisierte sich bald auf Stillleben und Blumenbilder. Salini war nie ein Schüler Caravaggios, wurde aber von dessen Arbeit beeinflusst. Soweit bekannt ist, nahm er 1603 an dem berühmten Prozess zwischen Michelangelo Merisi und Giovanni Baglione teil und entschied sich für seinen Freund, den römischen Maler. Caravaggio selbst sagte im Rahmen des Prozesses aus, dass er Salini als Maler von Stillleben kenne, aber nie eines gesehen habe. (13210722) (18)
