In Bronze gegossenes Paar Löwen, auf einer Plinthe liegen. Die beiden Tiere sind von Antonio Canova für das Grabmal Papst Clemens XIII in Sankt Peter gschaffen worden. Dieses zeigt links die Personifikation des Glaubens, rechts den Todesengel. Die zwei Löwen ruhen vor der Tumba, über welcher Papst Clemens vor seiner Tiara kniet und betet. Das Grabmal aus Marmor entstand 1795-1801, während die Datierung auf den vorliegenden Bronzen eine Werkstattwiederholung vermuten lässt.

A pair of lions cast in bronze, reclining on a plinth. The two animals were created by Antonio Canova for the tomb of Pope Clement XIII in St Peter’s Basilica.
