Am 15. März 1493 landete Christoph Kolumbus (1451-1506) nach seiner Entdeckungsreise in Palos, Spanien, von wo er am 3. August 1492 aufgebrochen war. Der weite Spiegel der Wiener Platte zeigt, gesäumt von ornamentalem Goldschlickerdekor auf rotem Fond mit hochovalen Vogelkartuschen, die polychrom gestaltete Hafenszene, bei der Kolumbus im Zentrum all das zeigt, was er mitgebracht hat. Metallaufhängung.
