Das Kind auf einem Tisch sitzend, das Köpfchen müde an die Schulter der Mutter gelehnt, in den Händen ein Apfel sowie ein kleines Kreuz, das einen Schatten auf die Brust der Mutter wirft. Beleuchtet von links durch eine Kerze, deren Flamme vom Velum abgedeckt wird. Betonter, gekonnter Sfumatoeffekt bei milder Kerzenlichtbeleuchtung.

Francesco Trevisani war Schüler von Antonio Zanchi (1631-1722) in Venedig, später von Carlo Maratti (1625-1713) in Rom beeinflusst, ferner von Guido Reni (1575-1642), Paolo Veronese (1528-1588) und Pietro da Cortona (1596-1669). (1281456) (11)

The Christ Child is sitting on a table with its head sleepily leaning against its mother´s shoulder. It is holding an apple and a small cross in its hands – the cross’ shadow is falling on its mother´s chest. A candle hidden behind a veil lights the scene from the left. The work is painted in emphasized masterful sfumato in soft candlelight.
