Wie viele seiner Landschaftsstudien zeigt auch dieses im flotten Pinselduktus gehaltene Gemälde Bäume, jedoch - und das kennen wir von Kossak seltener, mit einem fließenden Gewässer, das durch seine vibrierende Weißhöhung an Lebhaftigkeit gewinnt. Ungeöffnet.

Der Künstler gilt als einer der bedeutensten Schlachten- und Portraitmaler des späten 19. und beginnenden 20. Jahrhunderts. Sohn des bekannten polnischen Malers Juliusz Kossak (1824-1899). Studium in Krakau, München und Paris. Ab 1913 Professor an der Kunstakademie in Warschau. (12902813) (13)
