Feine Régence-Konsole „aux mufles de lions“

Holz, geschnitzt und vergoldet. Über zwei aus gegenläufigen Voluten gebildeten Beinen, die durch ein à jour gearbeitetes Rocaillefeld mit Drachenwesen und Maskaron verbunden werden, eine offen gearbeitete Zarge mit reichem Rocaille- und Muschelwerkdekor. Die Knie mit plastisch ausgebildeten Löwenkopfapplikationen und Drachen, welche die Beine umwinden. Überkragende, den Zügen des Möbels folgende Marmordeckplatte in Campan grand mélange. Das gesamte Ornamentvokabular des Régence ist vertreten und weist auf große Bildhauer und Ornamentalisten hin wie Jules Degoullons, André Lagoupil, Marin Bellan und Pierre Taupin, aber auch auf die Architekten Gilles-Marie Oppenordt und Nicolas Pineau.

Fine Régence console “Aux mufles de lions”

73 x 90 x 51 cm.
France, ca. 1730.

Carved and gilt wood. Overhanging Campan grand mélange marble top following the outline of the console. All of the ornaments typical for the Régence style are presented and suggest a great sculptor and ornament specialist such as Jules Degoullons, André Lagoupil, Marin Bellan and Pierre Taupin, but also architects such as Gilles-Marie Oppenordt and Nicolas Pineau.
