Das Thema ist auf den ersten Blick nicht sofort erkennbar. Maria ist auf steinigem Boden vor einem Felsen und Baumstamm sitzend wiedergegeben, auf ihrem Schoß das Kind, das nach der Hand Josefs greift. Dieser überreicht soeben eine Dattelfrucht, aus den Blättern und Zweigen einer Dattelpalme im Hintergrund, während vier geflügelte Engel in Wolken, hell erleuchtet, zwischen den Palmblättern, auf einer Wolkenbank schweben. So ist die Bilderfindung von äußerster Seltenheit, ganz abgesehen von der hohen Bildqualität der Feinmalerei, bei der einige Elemente von Werken des Carlo Maratta beeinflusst wurden. (12603420) (11)
