Auf einer hellgrauen, in leichter Aufsicht dargestellten Steinplinthe die diagonal nach rechts aufsteigende Komposition, welcher wir in Spaendoncks Werk mitsamt des henkligen Tonkruges des Öfteren begegnen. Neben den Pfingstrosen in dem Krug liegen Trauben, Winden, Kirschen, Pfirsiche, eine Melone und eine Ananas. Ein Schmetterling füllt den vakanten Luftraum oben links.

Auktion Christie´s, New York, 24. Januar 2003, Lot 95 mit Farbabb.

Anmerkung:
Van Spaendonck war seit 1773 in Paris für die Porzellanmanufaktur Sevres tätig, wo er bis 1801 als Entwerfer wirkte.

Literatur:
Das Gemälde wird beim RKD in Den Haag unter der Nummer 107781 als eigenhändiges Werk geführt. (1250802) (13)

In burnished frame with lancet leaf décor.

Auction Christie´s, New York, 24 January 2003, lot 95 with colour ill.

Notes:
Van Spaendonck was active for the porcelain manufacture Sevres in Paris since 1773 where he was employed as a designer until 1801.

Literature:
The painting is listed at the RKD in the Hague with no. 107781 as an original by the artist's own hand.
