Beigegeben eine Expertise von Dr. Jaco Rutgers, Tilburg, 11. April 2020.
(1241862) (1) (13)
Bartholomeus Grondonck,
ca. 1580 Antwerp – ca. 1630 ibid.
FEAST IN A FOREST CLEARING OUTSIDE A WATER PALACE Oil on panel. Parquetted.
46 x 65 cm.
In ebonized ripple moulding frame.
Accompanied by an expert’s report by Dr Jaco Rutgers, Tilburg, 11 April 2020.
Grondonck has based his painting here on a copper engraving by Nicolaes de Bruyn from 1601, which, in turn, is based on a drawing by David Vinckboons. Grondonck was famous for his works after engravings such as Kermesse at Oudenaarde, created ca. 1617 and held in a private collection. The foliage is characteristic in this painting, while it is always several points that merge into an oak leaf.
