Vor einer durch den Schattenwurf Sebastians angedeuteten Mauer das Bruststück des jugendlich wiedergegebenen Heiligen im C-Schwung nach oben gerichtet, wie wir es von anderen Heiligendarstellungen des Künstlers kennen. Lebendiger Glanz geht von den Augen Sebastians aus, welche der in Perugia geborene Bologneser Maler noch unter dem Einfluss Guido Renis (1575-1642) gekonnt in Szene setzt.
