Im Mittelpunkt die prachtvolle Ruine eines alten Palastes mit Rundbögen, Säulen, Galerien, diversen Treppenaufgängen und Skulpturen. Ein junges Paar hat sich unterhalb einer Statue niedergelassen, während am rechten unteren Bildrand ein weiterer Mann mit seinem Hund sitzt. Im Hintergrund rechts, vorbei an einem Reiterdenkmal, eine kleine Ortschaft, von der die Kirchturmspitze in den Himmel ragt. Daneben eine kleine Viehherde und zwei voll gepackte Wanderer, die gerade an dem Palast vorbei laufen. Für den Maler typische Landschaft mit architektonischen Fragmenten. Rest. Retuschen.
