In einer einfachen Stube sitzen an einem Holztisch zwei Männer, davon einer mit leuchtend rotem Barett, einen Henkelkrug in der Hand haltend. Der andere zieht an einem langen, leicht aufglühenden Pfeifchen. Hinter ihnen ist ein Mann auf eine Leiter gestiegen und wird dabei von einem weiteren stehenden Mann mit dunkelblauer Jacke beobachtet. Malerei, die an Arbeiten von Adriaen Brouwer (1605/06-1638) erinnert, in überwiegend monochromer beige-brauner Farbigkeit, bei der jedoch die beiden Kleidungsstücke, ein altrosafarbenes Hemd und das rote Barrett, besonders auffallen.
