In Italian, gilt-etched frame.
Painter and engraver, active under Giorgio Vasari (1511-1574) painting the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, furthermore he painted frescoes at the Vatican.
The Bible story according to The Book of Exodus, 17:8-13 is depicted between mountain ranges. Even for Antonio Tempesta, who was renowned for his crowded battle scenes, this is a painting especially rich in detail with a great variety of figures, some of which are mounted on horseback.
