Mikhail Fjodorowitsch Larionov,

Der Künstler studierte an der Moskauer Hochschule für Malerei, Bildhauerei und Architektur und lernte dort 1900 die Künstlerin Nathalie Gontcharova (1881-1962) kennen. 1914 arbeitete er auch als Kostüm- und Bühnenbildner für das Ballets Russes. Ab 1918 lebte er in Paris. Er gilt als Begründer des Rayonismus.

Auf einer weiß-grauen Decke zwei stehende Birnen und ein leeres Wasserglas vor grau-weißem Hintergrund. Für den bekannten russischen Maler, der zur russischen Avantgarde zählte, typisches Stillleben in monochromer Farbgebung. Das Motiv mit Birnen und Wasserglas ist mehrfach in seinem Oeuvre zu finden.

Das Bild wurde im September 2011 in der Athens Municipal Gallery ausgestellt.
