Eine kleine elegante Gesellschaft begutachtet an einer Hafeneinfahrt diverse präsentierte Ware. Eine elegante Dame in einem langen weiß-blauen Kleid, richtet ihren fragenden Blick auf einen mit einem weißen Turban bekleideten Mann, und weist auf die am Boden liegende Ware hin. Begleitet wird sie von einem schwarz gekleideten Kavalier mit breitem Hut. Über eine Mauer hat ein in Rot gekleideter, sitzender Händler seinen wertvollen Perserteppich ausgebreitet. Am unteren linken Bildrand eine Dame, die diverse Gemüsesorten und Geflügel zum Verkauf anbietet. Im Hintergrund, die hinter einer hohen Mauer an einem Hang liegende italienische Stadt unter hohem wolkenreichen Himmel. Stimmungsvolle Malerei in überwiegend monochromer Farbigkeit, bei der jedoch die weißen Kleidungsstücke einzelner Personen und das rote Gewand des Teppichhändlers besonders hervorstechen.
