(1200445) (13)

Very large rare jardinière

Height: 112 cm.
Diameter: 56 cm.
Stamped “Jacob D. R. Meslée”.
Paris, ca. 1803-1813.

Exceptional jardinière in mahogany on oak with gilt wooden elements. Formerly probably adorned with metal inlays, now lost.

Notes:
Formally this piece of furniture traces back to another tripod jardinière by Jean-Henri Eberts (1726-1803), which he modelled after a painting by Jean-Marie Vien titled “La Vertueuse Athénienne” created in 1762.
