LARGE STILL LIFE

Oil on canvas.
74 x 71.5 cm.
In classical gilt frame.

Opulent floral bouquet displayed in a stone vase, decorated with a mascaron ornament and placed on a stone table. The sculpted female mascaron on the stone vase dominates the centre of the depiction. Typically, the lower area shows thistle leaves and flowers, interspersed with blue morning glories. It can be assumed that according to Baroque tradition each flower had an allegorical meaning along the lines of love, fidelity and ephemerality.

This object has been individually compared to the information in the Art Loss Register data bank and is not registered there as stolen or missing.
