Die Gegenstände in geordneter Präsentation vor dunklem Hintergrund sowie auf ebenfalls dunkler Steinplatte, wobei die von links oben beleuchteten, helleren Partien wirksam vortreten. Links ein Tonkrug mit Henkel, darin Dillkraut. Im oberen Bildteil rechts, auf erhobenem Sockel, ein ausgebreitetes Papier, darauf Brot und ein Käsestück.
Das Gemälde ist ausführlich dokumentiert, beschrieben und abgebildet in einem Artikel von Prof. Alberto Cottino (Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti di Torino). In der Textausführung ein nahezu themengleiches Werk genannt, das sich in der Sammlung Mazzarosa in Lucca befindet und auf 1645 datiert ist (vgl. Literatur).
