Im Licht der warmen untergehenden Sonne, das sich in der ruhigen See spiegelt, zahlreiche mit Figuren besetzte Segelboote, die sich bis in die fast verschwindende Ferne hinziehen. Der hohe Horizont mit vielen schimmernden Wolken, in einem Farbspektrum, das von weiß-gelb, über hellgrün bis hin zu violett geht. Auch die See in vielen differenzierten Farbtönen, wobei an der linken Bildseite der Übergang zwischen Wasser und Himmel durch diesige Farbgebung fast aufgelöst wird.
