In einer Bauernstube, welche mit allerlei ländlichem Gerät ausgestattet ist, die in komplizierter Drehung wiedergegebene Rückenfigur eines Mannes, dessen Kopfhaut soeben von einer Frau auf Flöhe hin untersucht wird. Während ein Mann neben ihr trinkt, scheint es eine weiteren Frau im Hintergrund ebenfalls zu jucken. Thematisch kommt das Gemälde Ostade nahe, und es werden beim RKD einige (bessere) Varianten geführt, jedoch deutet die tonale Stimmung in Rosa, Gelb und Blaugrün bereits auf die zweite Hälfte des 17.
