Das uns vorliegende Gemälde steht in engem Zusammenhang mit einer Zeichnung Carraccis (The Drawings of Carracci in the Collection of Her Majesty the Queen At Windsor Castle, London 1952, Katalognummer 95, Abbildung 30). Ludovico Carracci,

THE RETURN OF THE PRODIGAL SON
Oil on canvas. Relined.
127.5 x 96.5 cm.
Unframed.

A copy by the expert's report by Andrea Emiliani dated 21th February 2006 is enclosed. The report conclusively attributes the painting to Ludovico Carracci and dates it between 1586 and 1588.

The painting on offer for sale in this lot is closely connected to a drawing by Carracci (The Drawings of Carracci in the Collection of Her Majesty the Queen At Windsor Castle, London 1952, cat. no. 95, ill. 30). There is also an obvious visible connection to a painting, which was formerly held at the Corpo di Cristo Church until it was purchased by Giampietro Zanotti for the King of France. With minimal damage.

This object has been individually compared to the information in the Art Loss Register data bank and is not registered there as stolen or missing.
