Halbbildnis Christi in rotem Spottmantel, mit Dornenkrone, gebundenen Händen und über die Brust ziehendem Blutstropfen sowie Striemen am Oberkörper. Rechts ihm gegenüber ein ihn spöttisch anlachender Folterknecht, der ihm ein Rohr als Spottzepter überreicht. Das Motiv ist von Domenichino durch weitere Versionen bekannt geworden, wovon sich eines im Quirinal in Rom, das andere im Museum in Princeton befindet (Vgl. Pittura antica. La quadreria. Il patrimonio artistico del Quirinale, mit Abb. Nr. 21, dort in den Maßen 57,5 x 68 cm).

The image motif became known through other versions of Domenichino. One of these is held at the Quirinal Palace in Rome, the other at the Museum in Princeton (see Pittura antica. La quadreria. Il patrimonio artistico del Quirinale, with ill. no. 21, and dimensions 57.5 x 68 cm).
