Im Zentrum der Darstellung die beiden Hauptfiguren. Ariadne auf der Insel Naxos wird hier von dem Weingott Dionysos/ Bacchus verehrt, der sich sogleich in sie verliebt hat. Der geflügelte Liebesgott Eros steht mit einer Fackel hinter dem Paar, wiederum Symbol der Liebe. Das Paar umgeben von Bacchanten, Silenen und Nymphen. Links trägt Pan persönlich einen Früchtekorb heran und kniet bocksbeinig vor beiden. Der felsige Hintergrund und der Ausblick auf das Meer gibt den Eindruck der Insel Naxos wiedergeben.
