Dem Gemälde ist eine Expertise von Ellen Bernt vom 20. Oktober 1983 beigegeben. Darin wird vermerkt, dass sich das Bild seit 1845 in der Sammlung von Sir Audley Needl Grittleton-House befand (Literatur: Waagen II 247). Ferner, dass sich Repliken mit kleinen Änderungen in der Gemäldegalerie Mauritshuis in Haag befinden (Katalog 1977, Nr. 154) sowie in der Sammlung Adolf Thieu in Saint-Remy. Ein weiteres ähnliches Werk in der Eremitage in Sankt Petersburg, dort als "Strand von Scheveningen" bezeichnet.

Blick vom Ufer einer Bucht mit rechts hochstehenden Klippen über das flache Meerwasser bis zum Horizont, mit zahlreichen Passanten, die am Ufer bzw. im seichten Wasser stehen. Links hinten einige Segelschiffe, die zum Auslaufen auf die Flut warten. Hoher wolkiger Himmel. (1151317) (11)

An expert's report by Ellen Bernt dated 20 October 1983 is enclosed. The report states that the painting was held in the collection of Sir Audley Neeld Grittleton-House since 1845. (Literature: Waagen II 247). It also states that copies with minor modifications are held at the Mauritshuis, The Hague (Catalogue 1977, no. 154) and at the Adolf Thieu Collection in Saint-Rémy. Another similar work is held at The State Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg titled "Beach at Scheveningen".

This object has been individually compared to the information in the Art Loss Register data bank and is not registered there as stolen or missing.
