(1151434) (11)

RAISING OF LAZARUS

Oil on canvas.
94 x 129 cm.

This multi-figured New Testament story of the miracle shows Jesus waking the dead Lazarus at the centre. The scene shows strong Mannerist influences and a first version of the subject by the same artist can be found at the MET Museum, Amsterdam (98 x 135 cm), and in a mirror-inverted engraving by Jan Muller (1571 - 1628), ca. 1600. The subject was repeated several times by the workshop and followers.

This object has been individually compared to the information in the Art Loss Register data bank and is not registered there as stolen or missing.
