Das große Format zeigt mit tiefliegendem Horizont eine winterliche Landschaft mit noch vereinzelten Schneeverwehungen und einer Mühle sowie Kirch-turm im linken Bildfeld. Auf dem Eis im Vorder-, Mittel- und Hintergrund vergnügen sich zahlreiche Personen mit Schlitten oder Schlittschuhen, teilweise begleitet von ihren Hunden. Ihre Figuren reflektieren sich dabei in kunstvoller Art und Weise auf der spiegelnden Eisfläche. Der leicht wolkenverhangene Himmel zeigt an, dass es sich um eine nachmittägliche Stunde handeln muss und taucht die Szenerie in ein leicht wärmeres Winterlicht. (1141047) (12)
