Szene in nächtlicher Stimmung, in manieristischer Beleuchtung durch hell aufreißende Wolken. Im Zentrum das Jesuskind auf einem Laken, von links Maria über das Kind gebeugt, dahinter der Heilige Josef. Des Weiteren herantretende Hirten sowie ruinöses Gebäude links hinten.
