James Brown,
geb. 1951 Los Angeles
Lebt und arbeitet in Paris und Oaxaca, Mexiko. Brown studierte an der École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Auf Reisen durch Europa beschäftigte ihn vor allem die Kunst der Gotik und der Renaissance. 1983 stellte er mit Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) und Keith Haring (1958-1990) in der Shafrazi Gallery in New York aus. Seine gestischen abstrakten Werke zeigen Einflüsse regionaler Stammeskunst und der Klassischen Moderne.TOWER OF IVORY, 1987 Öl auf Kupferplatte.

Verso auf dem Kupfer signiert und datiert "James Brown 87 nY". Auf dem Holzrahmen betitelt "Tower of ivory".
