Bronzierte Portraitbüste des französischen Generals und Marschall von Frankreich (1708-1794). Mailly stammte aus ältester französischer Adelsfamilie, begann seine militärische Laufbahn 1726 bei den Musketieren. 1733-1764 diente er in der Compagnie des Gendarmes de la Reine für Maria Lesczcynska, mit der er einem Gerücht zufolge ein intimes Verhältnis hatte, wonach er "Le Cocu du Roy" genannt wurde. 1745 wurde er Marschall de camp, war Gouverneur von Abbeville und Sénéchal. Während der Revolution fiel Mailly in Ungnade und wurde 1794 guillontiniert.
Die lebensgroße Büste zeigt den Marschall in Rüstung mit darüberliegender Ordenskette, dem Collier des Malteserritterordens, sowie dem Orden Saint-Lazare und Saint-Esprit. Über die Schulter ist ein Tuch gelegt, der Kopf nach links gewandt mit zurückwehendem, hinten gebundenem Haar. Auführung in Gipsguss mit dunkler Bronzepatinierung im glänzenden Effekt einer Galvanisierung. Am Sockel Bezeichnungsschild mit Aufschrift "M. de Mailly". (1131202) (11)
