Wie der Katalogstext von Angelo Mazza darlegt, geschah die erste korrekte Zuweisung an Pasqualino Rossi durch Mina Gregori im Jahr 2005. Die beiden kleinen Kupfertafeln stehen noch in der caravagesken Bildtradition, die Konzert- und Würfelspieler sind jeweils in einem nächtlich dunklen Innenraum wiedergegeben, in dem sich eine Gruppe Menschen um einen Tisch zusammengefunden hat, um gemeinsam zu musizieren bzw. Würfel zu spielen. Die beiden kleinen Kupfertafeln sind ein schönes Beispiel für die charakteristische Vorgehensweise des Künstlers, der thematisch verwandte Serien bzw. Gemäldepaare schuf wie z.B. die vier Gemälde der Sammlung des Lord Exeter in Burleigh House in Stamford.

As the catalogue text by Angelo Mazza explains, it was Mina Gregori who first attributed the painting correctly to Pasqualino Rossi in 2005.
