Schnitzfigur eines knienden Engels
Höhe: 86 cm.
Sockelbreite: 56 cm.
Italien, 16. Jahrhundert.
Nahezu vollplastisch in Weichholz geschnitzt, an der Rückseite jedoch abgeflacht und gehöhlt. Der Engel in langer, ehemals purpurfarbener Tunika, nach rechts kniend, die Arme vorgestreckt, wohl Teil einer Verkündigungszene. Auf dem balkenförmigen Sockel eine verriebene Aufschrift in gotischen Majuskeln auf Goldgrund. Partien der Goldfassung im Gewandsaum erhalten, Gewand in Schüssel- und Krüppelfalten gelegt. Von besonderem Interesse die hier schon frühe Verwendung von Glasaugeneinsatz in der Holzplastik. Linkes Auge fehlt, ebenso Flügel sowie Fingerspitzen. Altersbedingt besch. (1120588) (11)
