Ganz den barocken Vorbildern verhafteter, groß dimensionierter Deckelpokal. Die reich ziselierte Silbermontierung wird durch fein geschnittene Elfenbeinreliefs bereichert, welche als Ovalreliefs eingelassen (Fuß und Deckel) oder tragender Bestandteil sind (Schaft und Mantel der Kuppa). Der Deckelknauf wird durch eine ebenfalls in Elfenbein geschnitzte Venus-Amor-Gruppe gebildet, wodurch programmatisch das mit dichtem Personal versehene Hauptrelief auf der Kuppawandung wiederaufgenommen wird. Foot with pseudo hallmarks and 13 lot.
Germany, 19th century.

A large tankard with cover entirely in Baroque style. The opulently chased silver mounting is enhanced by finely cut ivory reliefs with the foot and cover inlaid in oval shapes and as integral parts on the stem and tankard body. The cover is surmounted by a figural ivory carving of Venus and Amor taking up the subject of the densely crowded main relief on the body of the tankard depicting nude female figures and bacchants. Damaged and signs of ageing.
