Das kleinformatige Gemälde zeigt eine Sommerlandschaft mit kleinem Weg, Bucht und einer von zwei Häusern durchzogenen Landzunge. Auf dem schmalen Weg zum Wasser steht ein Knabe, nach links gewandt. Nur selten gibt der amerikanische Pop Art-Künstler Alex Katz eine so genaue Beschreibung der landschaftlichen Situation, reduziert er seine Gemälde doch sonst stets auf das Wesentliche und entfernt alle in seinen Augen unnötigen Details. Das kleine Bild nimmt somit eine besondere Stellung im Oeuvre des bedeutenden Künstlers ein.

It is rare that the American Pop Art artist depicts a landscape setting in such detail as his paintings are usually reduced to the absolutely essential. The small format picture therefore takes a special place in this important artist’s oeuvre.
