(1091091) (2) (12)

Signed and dated lower right.
Unlike many of his contemporaries, Immendorff painted figural rather than abstract compositions, usually with a political and socio-critical message. The painting offered in this lot was created shortly after his decision to work as a free artist. It was also the year in which Immendorff exhibited his work “Brandenburger Tor” at documenta 7 in Kassel In the present painting the artist represents his analysis of the Cold War in a simple yet subtle and profound manner.
