Bergmann studierte in den 1840 er Jahren an der Düsseldorfer Kunstakademie unter Theodor Hildebrandt, zog danach nach Hildesheim und wurde 1853 in Hannover Hofmaler.DER MÄRCHENERZÄHLERÖl auf Leinwand.

Das vorliegende 1845 entstandene Gemälde zeigt eine Gruppe Menschen unterschiedlichen Alters, vom Kleinkind bis zur Greisin, die im Wald sitzend gebannt einem Märchenerzähler lauscht. Dieser weist auf eine Burg weit im Hintergrund, zu der er seine unheimliche Geschichte zu erzählen scheint. Das Gemälde entstand noch in der Ausbildungszeit des Künstlers unter Hildebrandt (1804-1874) und präsentiert sich ganz unter dem Einfluss der Düsseldorfer Malerschule. (10809232)
