Maria Letizia Ramolino Bonaparte (1750 - 1863), Madame Mère de l`Empereur, war die Mutter von Napoleon I. Auf dem vorliegenden Gemälde ist sie als sitzende Dame in reich pelzverbrämtem Gewand und mit üppig in Falten gelegter Haube dargestellt. Der herrschaftliche Zusammenhang wird durch den edlen Sitz, die Drapperie im Hintergrund und den Blick in die Ferne im Hintergrund hintermauert.
