Beigegeben ein Gutachten von Dr. Klaus Ertz vom 6. Oktober 2012.

VISIT TO THE WET NURSE, CA. 1665/70
Oil on panel. Parquetted.
30.5 x 67 cm.
Accompanied by an expert's report by Dr Klaus Ertz dated 6 October 2012.
The painting is also titled Flemish Household and executed in a pronounced horizontal format, not least to depict the manifold aspects of Flemish family life. The painting's special appeal lies in the dense hustle of all the depicted details. Comparable works can be found at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna (Flemish Household, inventory no. 969) and the Städel Museum in Frankfurt (Visit of the wet nurse, dated 1572).
Literature:
K. Ertz and C. Nitze-Ertz, Marten van Cleve. 1524 - 1581, Lingen 2014, p. 187, no. 111 (illustrated). The authors note that van Cleve was already greatly influenced by his model, Pieter Brueghel the Elder, from 1560 onwards.
