Italienischer Meister der Schule von Parma in Nachfolge von Antonio Allegri Correggio,

Großformatiges Gemälde, in dem die Figuren kompositionell eng aneinander gestellt sind. Das etwas heller beleuchtete Jesuskind bildet das Zentrum, wobei Arme und Beine die X-förmige kompositionelle Diagonale des Bildaufbaus im Zentrum konzentrieren. Maria beugt sich dem Kopf des Kindes zu, von links tritt der Johannes-Knabe heran, der dem Jesuskind ein Kreuz reicht. Von rechts ein jugendlicher Engel die Handlung betrachtend. Im oberen Bildteil links eine weitere Engelsbüste sowie eine weibliche Gestalt nicht näherer Deutungsbestimmung. Die Farbkomposition ist darauf ausgerichtet, dass die Rotfarbe des Marienmantels von links nach rechts unten zieht, während das Gegengewicht im Dunkel der oberen Ecke liegt. THE VIRGIN AND THE CHRIST CHILD WITH ANGELS

Large format painting with a composition of densely crowded figures. The Christ Child at centre is illuminated and his limbs create two intersecting diagonals within the composition.
The Virgin leans towards his head and Saint John the Baptist as a boy, approaching from the left, offers the Christ Child a cross. A youthful angel on the right is observing the scene. Depicted in the upper left half of the painting are an angel’s bust and a female figure that cannot be identified . The painting’s colour composition is arranged so that the Virgin’s red cloak is directed from the upper left to the lower right while a dark area in the upper corner counterbalances the colour composition. The contours are predominantly painted in sfumato.
