Diese lichtdurchflutete Meereslandschaft zeigt im Vordergrund Fischer, die ein Boot umringen, im Hintergrund einen imposanten Felsbogen. Das vorliegende Gemälde ist mit Sicherheit Paolo Anesi zuzuschreiben. Typisch für diesen Maler sind der zarte Auftrag, die detaillierte Ausarbeitung der Blätter und der Felsen sowie die kleinen schnell skizzierten Figuren. Die Meereslandschaft weist alle charakteristischen Merkmale Anesis auf, der sich häufig von den Küstenlandschaften des Lazio inspirieren ließ, diese jedoch idealisiert und friedvoll arkadisch umsetzte.
Anesi war, zusammen mit Andrea Locatelli (1695 - 1741) und Jan Frans van Bloemen (1162 - 1749), einer der bedeutendsten Maler römischer Landschaften des 18. Jahrhunderts. Von besonderer Bedeutung sind Anesis feinsinnige Bildgestaltung und seine klare, helle Farbpalette. Er verband stilistisch geschickt die Einflüsse der nordeuopäischen „italianisierten“ Landschaftsmaler wie Jan Asselyn (um 1610 - 1652) und Nicolaes Berchem (1620 - 1683) mit dem Klassizismus eines Nicolas Poussin (1594 - 1665), Gaspard Dughet (1615 - 1675) und Claude le Lorrain (1600-1682). Anesi war schon zu Lebzeiten sehr erfolgreich, wie man an den großen, bedeutsamen Auftragsarbeiten und der Zusammenarbeit mit berühmten Künstlern wie zum Beispiel Giovanni Paolo Panini (1691 - 1765) und Pompeo Girolamo Batoni (1708 - 1773) erkennen kann.
