PORTRAIT OF A GENTLEMAN (POSSIBLY ANDRÉ CITROËN)

Oil on canvas.
ca. 55 x 46 cm.

Accompanied by a confirmation by Wildenstein institute (in copy).

Important French painter with Dutch origins, who joined the Fauve circle in 1905 and collaborated with André Derain (1880 – 1954), Maurice de Vlaminck (1876 – 1958) und Henri Matisse (1869 – 1954). Inspired by Max Pechstein (1881 – 1955), he became a member of the artist’s group Die Brücke [The Bridge] in Dresden in 1909.
