Von den Stufen vor Santa Maria della Salute aus gesehen gleitet der Blick die Mündung des Canal Grande entlang in Richtung des Campanile und des, im rechten Mittelgrund erscheinenden, Dogenpalastes. Ufer und vor allem der Canal Grande sind reich bevölkert mit Gondeln und Personen. Sowohl Licht als auch Wolkenhimmel deuten die sommerliche Atmosphäre an. Das Gemälde ist in einer kühlen, präzisen Farbgebung und in flottem Duktus, wie er für den Malstil des Künstlers charakteristisch ist, ausgeführt.

Gallery labels and handwritten certificate of authenticity by the artist and further authentications with stamp on the reverse.

View of the mouth of the Grand Canal in the direction of the Campanile and the Doge’s Palace in the middleground on the right as seen from the steps of Santa Maria della Salute. The riverside and especially the Grand Canal are densely populated with gondolas and a number of figures. The light and cloudy sky suggest a summery atmosphere. The painting is executed in cool, accurate tones and using swift brushstrokes as is typical for the artist.
