(1042223) (12)
Giuseppe Pinot-Gallizio,
1902 Alba - 1964 ibid.
UNTITLED, 1959
Oil on canvas.
63 x 72.9 cm.
Numbered “C.209” on the reverse.
Framed with glass.
Pinot-Gallizio lived in Alba and together with Asger Jorn he founded the Laboratorio Sperimentale, where the two artists produced art by the metre. One year before the painting on offer was created, the artist exhibited at Galleria Notizie in Turin for the first time. During exhibitions the paintings were sold by the metre, for example at Galerie Otto van de Loo in Munich where the paintings measured up to 74 m in length. The shapes were created spontaneously and at random on the canvas and thereby subverted the individual, guided artistic approach.
