Der Künstler studierte in Chile Architektur und ging ab 1933 nach Paris, wo er im Atelier von Le Corbusier arbeitete. Ab 1938 wandte er sich der Malerei zu. Er reiste viel durch Europa und wurde mit zahlreichen Künstlern, darunter DalÃ, Henry Moore oder Alvar Aalto bekannt. Ausschlaggebend für seine künstlerische Entwicklung war jedoch die Begegnung und Freundschaft mit André Breton. Die Kriegsjahre verbrachte er ab Herbst 1938 in New York, kehrte aber 1948 nach Europa zurück und ließ sich 1958 in Rom nieder. Seine Arbeiten werden dem Surrealismus zugerechnet.
Beigegeben eine Authentifizierung vom 29. Oktober 1999.

In acrylic box frame.
Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity dated 29 October 1999.
The three large format individual compositions of abstract figures within surreal compositions form a set. Mythical creatures and amorphous animal forms such as a winged unicorn, a dog and a centaur are intertwined with walking human figures. Acrylic box frame damaged.
