Dem Gemälde ist eine ausführliche Expertise von Dario Succi beigegeben, in der das Gemälde dem Meister zugewiesen wird, der auch als "Maestro della Fondazione Langmatt" bekannt ist. Im Gutachten werden entsprechende Vergleichsbeispiele sowie Literatur genannt.
Mit Blick auf den Platz gegen die Libreria, den Canal Grande und die Kirche Santa Maria della Salute vom Punkt der Punta della Dogana di Mare aus gesehen.
